↑TPOCON UNI

TPOCON UNI

P1001737

黒いUNIについていたレンズで、50mmf2(下のレンズ)です。

English Information

Topcon UNI UV Topcor Lens to Leica M Mount Adapter

This is a custom adapter that allows Topcon UNI UV Topcor lenses to be used with Leica M mount cameras and M mount helicoid adapters.

The Topcon UNI is an unusual Japanese leaf-shutter SLR system. Unlike many interchangeable-lens cameras, the aperture control is located on the camera body rather than directly on the lens.

This creates a significant problem when adapting the lens to another camera: the aperture still needs to be operated somehow.

For this project, I attempted something I had previously considered too difficult to manufacture with a 3D printer: a working aperture ring built directly into the adapter.

This became an important project for muk camera service because it was the first serious attempt to incorporate a moving mechanical control into one of our 3D-printed mount adapters.

The adapter consists of three main 3D-printed parts:

The main adapter body
A rotating aperture ring
A sleeve that holds the aperture ring in place

The metal Leica M mount flange is also incorporated into the structure.

The aperture ring is mechanically connected to the original aperture lever inside the Topcon UNI lens mount. This allows the aperture of the original lens to be controlled from the adapter.

The design required repeated prototyping. It was not enough to simply measure the original parts and reproduce their dimensions. The actual printed dimensions, mounting force, rotational resistance, aperture-ring weight and click feel all had to be tested and adjusted.

The relatively long flange distance of the Topcon UNI also made the adapter unusually thick and increased the 3D printing time.

One complete prototype set requires approximately 7.5 hours of 3D printing:

Main body: approximately 4 hours
Aperture ring: approximately 1.5 hours
Sleeve: approximately 2 hours

The final design also incorporates several small mechanical details intended to improve fit, contact surfaces and durability.

The adapter has been tested with several UV Topcor lenses, including:

UV Topcor 50mm f/2
UV Topcor 53mm f/2
Hi Topcor 55mm f/1.8

The Leica M mount is used as an intermediate mount, allowing the adapted lenses to be used with a variety of modern mirrorless cameras through appropriate M mount adapters.

Lens system: Topcon UNI UV Topcor
Mount: Topcon UNI → Leica M
Aperture: Mechanical aperture control through the adapter
Material: ABS / metal
Manufacturing: 3D printing
Made in: Japan
Manufacturer: muk camera service

This project was particularly significant because it demonstrated that 3D printing could be used not only to reproduce a fixed lens mount, but also to manufacture a functional moving mechanical mechanism.

It was an expensive and time-consuming adapter to develop, but it opened the way for later muk projects involving unusual mechanical controls and moving parts.

muk camera service specializes in rare, unusual and mechanically challenging lens mount adapters, often combining metal components with custom 3D-printed mechanisms.

Many of these projects begin with a problem that appears difficult or impractical to solve. We enjoy finding a mechanical solution and testing it with real cameras and lenses.
